Congress MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary Dies Of Heart Attack During Rally

Santokh Singh Chaudhary died at the age of 76, from a sudden cardiac arrest during the Bharat Jodo Yatra rally. That’s why the rally has been stopped for 24 hours.

According to senior party official Partap Singh Bajwa, who was also marching in the yatra, the two-time MP passed out while participating in the Rahul Gandhi-led rally in Phillaur in Jalandhar.

He claimed that an ambulance was used to transport Chaudhary to a hospital in Phagwara.

Following Chaudhary’s passing, the yatra was stopped, and it is now known that Gandhi went to the hospital.

The yatra’s Punjab leg had earlier that morning proceeded from Ladhowal in Ludhiana. Bhagwant Mann, the chief minister of Punjab, expressed sorrow at the passing of the Congress MP.

The party’s Jalandhar MP, Santokh Singh Chaudhary, passed out during the march on foot at Phillaur, Punjab. He was transported in an ambulance to a hospital in Phagwara, where he subsequently passed away.

A party official claimed that Rahul Gandhi, who was heading the yatra, stopped the march in the middle and hurried to the hospital where the venerable Congressman had been brought. Later today, he’ll probably meet Mr. Chaudhary’s family at their Jalandhar house.

Mr. Chaudhary may be seen walking beside Mr. Gandhi and other party members in a photo collage that Mr. Gandhi later published from today’s yatra.

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor posted on Twitter,

“Stunned to see this news. Santokh @SSChaudharyMP was in fine fettle when I saw him last. Quiet and mild-mannered but strongly effective, he was a pillar of @INCIndia’s Lok Sabha cohort. His loss leaves us bereft. My profound condolences to his loved ones. OM Shanti.”

PM Narendra Modi also tweeted,

“Pained by the passing away of MP Shri Santokh Singh Chaudhary Ji. He will be remembered for his efforts to serve the people of Punjab. Condolences to his family and supporters. Om Shanti.”
