Congress Leader Booked For Referring Smiriti Irani As Pakistani

Indian political leaders often make comments about each other. But the statement of Congress Leader Deepak Singh led to an FIR filed against him.

Central Minister for Women and Child Development and BJP Member of Parliament from Amethi, Smriti Irani, has been accused by Congress leader and former MLA Deepak Singh of calling her Pakistani in a case.

Divya Shukla, a resident of Ramshahpur, had passed away due to medical negligence at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Munshiganj after undergoing a kidney stone operation.

In this case, Divya Shukla’s husband, Anuj Shukla, filed a case accusing doctors and hospital administration of negligence. After negligence was revealed during the investigation, the Chief Medical Officer sealed the hospital on September 18th.

Under the leadership of former MLA and Congress leader Deepak Singh, a protest was launched on Monday. He is demanding to reopen the hospital’s services. Currently, he is protesting under the banner of the “Save Amethi Struggle Committee.”

During the protest, a purported video of a former MLA is being circulated, in which he is questioned about the care of the child with a cleft palate by a channel. In response, the former MLA stated that the child is a part of the Amethi family and has no connection to any Iranian or Pakistani.

Hurt by this statement, BJP District President Keshav Prasad Singh said that party workers and voters are angry with Smriti Irani for making such objectionable statements.

The police have registered an FIR on the complaint of the District President. The Investigating Officer Amar Singh confirmed the registration of the FIR and mentioned that an investigation into the case is ongoing.

Following the registration of the FIR, on Thursday, former MLA Deepak Singh shared a video on his social media platform, stating,

“When the government of our country’s largest state could not silence my voice, then what is the status of a Pakistani or Irani (Smiriti Irani)?”

After this post, the political battle in Amethi has once again heated up on social media.

The word ‘Pakistani’ itself has become infamous. People around the world now perceive ‘Pakistani’ as synonymous with terrorists.

In such a situation, it is absolutely unjustifiable for Congress leader Deepak Singh to label any person or leader from his own country as Pakistani.

While it is understandable that Deepak Singh and his political team are protesting the closure of Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, they should realize how provocative such a statement can be.

His statement could incite violence on the streets of Amethi. He is a former MLA and should choose his words wisely.

As for the issue of Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, an investigation is underway. If doctors or other staff members there are found to be negligent in their treatment, it could risk the lives of other patients too.

We hope the government will expedite the investigation so that other patients are not put in any trouble.
