Congress Chooses Wrong Youth Leader: In what can be called comedy of errors, the Congress Party landed up electing someone who is already a part of its rival party BJP. The Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress accidently elected Harshit Singhai as its general secretary of Jabalpur unit. This is ironic has Singhai is already a part of BJP.
This just goes onto show the kind of confusion and unclear mandates with which the country’s oldest running political party is functioning. Singhai’s appointment was cancelled later. Indeed the political analysts could say that it looked like a major embarrassment for the grand old party.
As per reports, Singhai received congratulatory messages for his appointment as Youth Congress chief in Jabalpur. Surprisingly, it is not occur to anyone that it has been nine months since he had exited the Congress Party.
Singhai is a Jyotiraditya Scindia loyalist and has followed suit.
As per reports, the nomination papers for the Youth Congress polls were submitted in 2018 but the elections were stalled first due to Assembly polls and later the Lok Sabha polls.
Strangely, the Congress database had not been updated since the government collapse and leaders switching sides. Therefore, the old database continued to reflect Singhai as a part of the Congress Party. As per reports, the elections were said to have held online which could also explain the faux pas.
Congress is said to have embarrassed itself on many occasions when its member Rahul Gandhi has made hilarious assertions and statements in many parliamentary sessions, especially attacking PM Narendra Modi.
