Rajasthan had 33 districts only till 2022. Till last month, Rajasthan had 50 districts, but with the addition of these three new districts, the total number of districts will increase to 53.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that the decision to create these new districts was made based on the demands of the public and the recommendations of a high-level committee.
The Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot, announced this news on a social media platform. This is the second time this year that the Congress government has created new districts in Rajasthan.

In March 2023, the government of Rajasthan had decided to create 19 new districts and three new divisions in the state. This means that some existing districts will be divided into smaller districts.
Jaipur district was divided into Jaipur and Jaipur Rural. Similarly Jodhpur district is divided into Jodhpur and Jodhpur Rural. These new districts and divisions officially started functioning on August 7, 2023.
