Chris Hipkins To Become New Zealand’s New Prime Minister

Chris Hipkins is going to succeed Jacinda Ardern as Prime Minister. Chris played an important role in New Zealand’s combat to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Jacinda Ardern will be succeeded as prime minister by HRIS Hipkins, who was the sole candidate nominated to head the opposition Labour Party on Saturday. Hipkins was crucial to New Zealand’s action in the Covid-19 crisis.

At a gathering of Labour’s 64 legislators on Sunday, Hipkins, 44, is anticipated to be formally installed as the next leader.

Following the party’s announcement that he was the only candidate, Hipkins was quoted by Reuters as saying, “I think we are an exceptionally strong team.”

“We’ve remained unified throughout this process, and we will do so moving forward. I consider myself extremely lucky to be working with such a remarkable group of individuals who are genuinely dedicated to serving the people of New Zealand.

According to Reuters, Jacinda Ardern abruptly stated on Thursday that she will leave her position as prime minister because she “had no more in the tank” to govern the nation.

Since there were no other candidates, it was clear that the party’s legislators had unified behind Hipkins to avert a drawn-out election and any indication of discontent following Ardern’s resignation.

Hipkins, who was chosen by the Labour Party to participate in parliament for the first time in 2008, became well-known for leading the federal response to the pandemic.

He was named health minister in July 2020 and will take over as COVID response minister at the close of the year.

Chris Hipkins is now the leader of the house and the minister of police, education, and public service.

The world praised Ardern, who was only 37 when she took office, for her handling of the nation’s greatest mass shooting and the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

She was nevertheless subjected to significant domestic political pressures and a degree of antagonism from some that had never before been seen by a leader of New Zealand. She encountered threatening threats and misogynistic remarks online.
