Chatting App ‘Signal’ Introduces Stories Feature For Android & iOS

If you’re missing the Instagram stories or WhatsApp status like feature on the chatting platform ‘Signal’, your wait is over! Now you can set stories on Signal too.

Following a month-old teaser for the new feature, Signal has debuted its version of Stories.

Stories are reportedly starting to roll out for users of Android and iOS devices, with web devices following suit at a later date, based on a Signal forum post. 

Signal acknowledges that Stories has been a widely desired feature for the messenger app before the launch of the new feature.

The new function is now available after Signal was spotted testing it out back in October while participating in a beta test.

Users can start producing now that Signal’s Stories are available through version 6.0 of the app on both Android and iOS. 

After someone sends one of these accessible Stories—which include video, text, and images—to another person or group of people, it will vanish after 24 hours. 

Users also have the option to delete their tales sooner if they so desire, and this new functionality is supported by Signal’s end-to-end encryption.

Additionally, you can decide who can view your tale. Go to Settings > Stories to accomplish this.

Signal emphasizes that by making one’s tales accessible to their Signal contacts, one can be fairly expansive with their accessibility. 

Those who use Signal in your phone’s contact list, everyone you’ve messaged privately with using the app, and people whose messaging requests you’ve approved come into this category.

Additionally, users will have the option to precisely control these settings by limiting certain individuals’ access to your stories. 

Similar to how you do for conversations, you can also disable read receipts for stories in the settings.

Signal’s Stories feature enables users to share their updates with a large group if they want to let everyone know what they’re up to. 

Even if you don’t know them, members of your group can tell others outside of that conversation about your experience.

In order to keep you informed about the status of your tale, this will give you an update.

There is the ability to completely disable this new feature, despite the fact that Stories are pervasive and Signal is following some of its rivals in this regard. 

Users can turn off tales by going to their Settings > Stories page. No one will be able to tell that you have disabled the feature because this option is kept private.

Group-shared articles will no longer be visible to you on Signal if you turn this off as well.
