Center Bans Popular Front of India (PFI) For The Next 5 Years

After the major countrywide raid by NIA, the central government has banned the Popular Front of India (PFI) and all its associates for five years.

The Central Government has declared the Popular Front of India (PFI) and any of its associates, affiliates, or fronts to be unlawful associations with immediate effect and for a period of five years.

Government Official Statement

The central government has made an official statement and stated,

“PFI and its associates or affiliates or fronts operate openly as a socio-economic, educational, and political organization but, 

they have been pursuing a secret agenda to radicalize a particular section of the society working towards undermining 

the concept of democracy and show sheer disrespect towards the constitutional authority and constitutional set up of the country.”

According to the notice, PFI and its partners, affiliates, or fronts have been engaging in illegal activity that threatens the integrity, sovereignty, and security of the nation and has the ability to disturb communal harmony and public peace as well as foster militancy there.

Operation Octopus To Counter Popular Front of India

Five days after a major pan-Indian operation against the organisation that is frequently charged with having ties to radical Islam.

More than 150 people who were allegedly associated with the Popular Front of India (PFI) were held or arrested in searches spanning seven states on Tuesday. 

The raids, which took place in Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat, Delhi, Maharashtra, Assam, and Madhya Pradesh, were mostly carried out by state police units.

On Tuesday, the action was swift as police squads spread out throughout their different states in what appeared to be synchronicity. 

According to officials, 25 persons were held in Assam, 10 in Maharashtra, and 57 in Uttar Pradesh. There were 30 people apprehended in Delhi, 21 in Madhya Pradesh, and 10 in Gujarat. In addition, several persons were detained in Karnataka.

The PFI, which was founded in 2006, professes to work toward a neo-social movement purportedly for the empowerment of India’s underprivileged groups. 

However, law enforcement organizations frequently accuse it of encouraging extreme Islam.
