The Lok Sabha Elections saw many old and trusted faces winning the seats of the parliament. Having said that, many new faces also emerged in the scene. The country went into polls from April 19 to June 1, 2024 to elect 543 members for the lower house of the parliament and many celebrities were in line to be elected.
From Shatrughan Sinha to Kangana Ranawat, many of the bollywood stars were elected. Kangana Ranawat won her first ever election after standing from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, her hometown. She defeated Vikramaditya Singh, the son of six time elected chief minister Virbhadra Singh and state congress chief Pratibha Singh.
Ranawat is an active supporter of BJP and had been vocal before about her viewpoints.
Along with Kangana, Ramayan star Govil won for BJP against Samajwadi Party’s Sunita Yadav in a closely contested Meerut seat in Uttar Pradesh. He won by just 10585 votes.

Hema Malini also won in Mathura for the straight 3rd term against her political rival Mukesh Dhangar of Congress. Bollywood actor Shatrughan Sinha who was fielded by Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee from West Bengal’s Asansol won against BJP’s SS Alhuwalia. Shatrughan Sinha joined TMC in 2022 before having represented BJP and Congress. Former actress Smriti Irani lost in Amethi against Congress’s Kishorilal Sharma.
In the past, elections had seen famous bollywood superstars like Big B, Rajesh Khanna, Vinod Khanna, Nargis, Sunil Dutt participate in the political system.
As of now, film stars Govinda, Urmila Matondkar, Paresh Rawal and Kamal Hasan are active in the system and have been seen campaigning during the elections.
