CBI Summons Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav Again

ED conducted raids on Tejashwi Yadav’s residence in Delhi regarding a land-for-job scam. The CBI summoned him for a 2nd time, the very next day.

Tejashwi Yadav, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and deputy chief minister of Bihar, has been called before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in relation to a land-for-jobs case, according to agency authorities.

According to the authorities, he has received two summonses; the first was sent to him on February 4. The summons was issued a day after the Enforcement Directorate searched Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD leader and deputy chief minister of Bihar, at his home in the nation’s capital.

After more than 11 hours of interviewing the RJD leader at his home in New Delhi, the ED team reportedly left.

In connection with the alleged land-for-jobs scam, the ED also conducted raids against numerous relatives of former railway minister Lalu Prasad at various sites in Delhi, the National Capital Region (NCR), and Bihar.

According to sources, raids were carried out at Abu Dojana, a leader of the RJD, and Misa Bharti, a daughter of Lalu Prasad, as well as other homes in Delhi.

After submitting an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) and taking notice of the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) investigation against Lalu Prasad in the matter, the ED conducted these searches in accordance with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

The government agency conducted these raids days after Lalu Prasad was questioned by the CBI regarding the land-for-jobs issue. On Tuesday, Lalu Prasad was questioned by the CBI for about five hours over two sessions.

The former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi was also questioned by the CBI on Monday for more than five hours at her Patna (Bihar) home.

In the case involving Lalu Prasad, Rabri Devi, and 14 other people, the CBI has already submitted a charge sheet alleging criminal conspiracy and violations of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Lalu Prasad and the other defendants were given notice to appear before a Delhi court on March 15 after receiving a summons last month.

Bhola Yadav, who served as Lalu Prasad’s officer on special duty while he was the railway minister, as well as Hridayanand Chaudhary, a railway employee and alleged beneficiary of the scandal, and Dharmendra Rai, a second alleged beneficiary, have all been detained by the CBI so far in connection with the case.

Lalu Prasad and a few members of his family are accused by the CBI of accepting land plots in exchange for jobs at the Indian Railways between 2004 and 2009, while he was the Railway Minister. In connection with the investigation, the agency also conducted raids at nearly two dozen places in August of last year.
