CBI Raids On 56 Locations In 20 States Against Child Sexual Abuse

CBI Megha Chakra Operation: CBI raided on 56 locations, in 20 states across the country to crack down against child sex abuse material (child porn).

As part of Operation “Megha Chakra,” the CBI conducted searches at 56 locations on Saturday across 19 states and one union territory in relation to two cases of online distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).

The raids were based on input from Interpol Singapore and intelligence gathered during Operation Carbon, which was carried out against Internet vendors of CSAM using cloud storage last year, they claimed.

The operation, which has the codename “Megha Chakra,” is focused on cloud storage facilities that are utilized by the peddlers to disseminate audio-visuals of illegal sexual activity with children.

According to an official, the agency, which was the first agency to establish a cybercrime squad, has taken out CSAM dealers across India.

What Is CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material)?

Child pornography is the term used to describe CSAM. Varied nations have different definitions of what constitutes Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).

Because a child is unable to legally offer consent, child pornography implies consent. The phrase “child pornography” misrepresents the genuine nature of the content and downplays how terrible the abuse is from the viewpoint of the child.

The term “pornography” is typically used to refer to content that is distributed for the sake of sexual gratification and shows adults engaging in consensual sexual activity.

When applied to minors, this phrase runs the risk of normalizing, demeaning, and even legalizing child sexual abuse and exploitation.

What Is The CBI ‘Megha Chakra’ Operation?

Since the CBI ‘Megha Chakra’ Operation is very confidential thus there is not much information available about this.

However under the Megha Chakra Operation, the CBI has just raided 56 different locations countrywide against child pornography activies.

Several news sources have reported the similar activities under the CBI’s ‘Meghadoot’ operation. However it hasn’t been clarified whether both operations are the same or not.
