CBI Cracks Down On Fake Passport Racket, Raids 50 Locations In Bengal

CBI raids 50 locations in Bengal and Sikkim, targeting fake passport scams & rackets. Top officials are caught, putting the Mamata govt under the spotlight again.

The Central Investigation Agency (CBI) has taken a major step in the case of false passports and exposed fake passport rackets. The agency raided nearly 50 places in West Bengal and Sikkim on Friday evening, and the investigation is still ongoing.

According to the information, the CBI has arrested a senior supervisor of a Passport Service Center in Siliguri along with a middleman.

The officers of the CBI said that a total of 24 people, including 16 officials, are named in the initial case for allegedly issuing passports based on false documents by taking bribes. Raids are being conducted in Kolkata, Siliguri, Gangtok, and other places.

Before this, on October 8th, the CBI had raided the premises of West Bengal Minister Firhad Hakim and legislator Madan Mitra regarding alleged irregularities in municipal recruitment.

Last Sunday morning, a team of the CBI conducted a raid at the homes of West Bengal Minister Firhad Hakim and legislator Madan Mitra. It was done concerning recruitment scams in the municipality.

It should be noted that Firhad had also been in CBI’s net two years ago. At that time, the central investigation agency had interrogated him in the Narada scam, and now he has been raided again in the municipal recruitment case.

Before this, both Hakim and Madan Mitra were arrested in 2021 in the Narada sting operation case. Mitra was also arrested by the CBI in 2014 in the Sarada chit-fund scam.

On April 21 of this year, a single-judge bench of the Kolkata High Court ordered the CBI to take over the investigation of the municipal recruitment scam. This order was passed based on an application submitted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

This whole fake passport scam is really making me worried. I mean, what’s going on? First corruption in West Bengal government offices, and now even our identity is at risk!

I won’t be surprised if this is tied up with vote bank politics. Just think about it. Outsiders like Rohingyas get fake IDs, become “citizens,” and then what?

They’ll probably vote for the same corrupt people who helped them in the first place. It’s like a never-ending cycle of scams!

But you know what? We have faith in the CBI. These guys don’t mess around. I’m expecting them to expose the whole thing soon—every racket, every corrupt official, and even political party that might be involved. We need to clean house, and I think CBI is the broom we’ve been waiting for.
