Cast, release date: Everything we need to know about Dune: Part Two

It might be hard to believe for some fans that Dune: Part One was released in theatres just a couple of years back. But it’s almost time to get back to the desert planet of Arrakis and join the fight for the most sought-after resource in the universe.

The Dune movies have drawn their inspiration from a series of novels by Frank Hebert that covers a universe ruled by an emperor-led government. Both Dune: Part One and Two cover happenings from the first novel released in 1965.

Dune: Part Two: Release Date

The highly anticipated Dune 2, officially titled Dune: Part Two, is expected to hit theatres this year on November 3. While its initial release date was set for November 17, it was pushed up by a couple of weeks after Marvel announced its Blade reboot would be released later in 2024.

Dune: Part Two then moved up on the calendar, setting its release date for early November. The change worked out perfectly, preventing two highly anticipated movies from clashing as The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is also set to hit the big screen on Nov 17.

Dune: Part Two: Cast

Along with several returning characters, a bunch of new faces would be seen this November. Florence Pugh and Austin Butler are two of the most prominent additions. Pugh will be playing Princess Irulan, who is helping her father – the emperor – maintain his power over the universe.

Meanwhile, Butler has been cast as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, the violent nephew of Stellan Skarsgård’s character who wants to destroy Timothée Chalamet’s character Paul Atreides and his allies. It will be fun to see how the two additions fit into the unique universe.

While Chalamet played a larger role in the first part as he was one of the main characters, Zendaya’s character will have much more to do this time. In the first movie, Paul mostly saw her in visions, but the audience will finally see the two embarking on a real relationship in the sequel.
