BWF World Championships 2022: Indian Shuttlers Pair In The Quarterfinals

The Indian shuttlers continued their brilliant performance as 2-doubles pairing plus one more singles player made it into the quarterfinals of the prominent.

Two doubles teams and one more singles player advanced to the quarterfinals of the prestigious BWF World Championship competition on Thursday in Tokyo, continuing the Indian shuttlers’ remarkable run.

Hee Yong and Loh Kean from Singapore were defeated by Dhruv Kapila and MR Arjun in three games, demonstrating their strength once more. Both teams played aggressively in the opening game, trading scores until the score reached 6-6. 

It was a closely contested match, with Dhruv and Arjun leading 11-9 at the half. The Indian team managed to maintain their advantage at 15-11 after the break. 

Hee and Loh mounted a valiant comeback to score 4 points in a row to tie the game at 15-15. The Singaporean team displayed class by handily winning the first game, 21-18.

Dhruv and Arjun jumped out to a 2 point lead in the second game. The Singaporean team staged a stunning comeback to tie the game at 5-5. The Indian team played aggressively, gaining an 11-7 lead into the half-game. 

Dhruv and Arjun did not give their opponents a chance after the break, winning the second game handily at 21-15 to send the match into overtime.

The third set featured a very fast-paced game from both pairs. After a brief struggle, Dhruv and Arjun appeared to have everything under control. The Indian pair won the point after a lengthy 27 rally shot. 

The Indian pair led 11-7 at the break in play. After the break, the Singaporean couple attempted a return as Arjun yelled for help with his cramps. 

The Indian duo appeared to be in control after winning the decisive match by a score of 21–15 and moving on to the championship round.

The Indian men’s doubles team of Dhruv & Arjun became the first to go to the World Championship quarterfinals. They’ll take on Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan, the third-seeded team.

Chirag Shetty & Satwiksairaj RankiReddy had a game, winning two straight games over Danish teams Bay and Molehde. 

The Danish duo made a powerful comeback to tie the match at 10-10 after the Indian pair first appeared a touch shaky and applied considerable pressure to the world number 32. 

At the half, Satwik and Chirag had a slim 11-10 edge. After the break, the Indian team appeared to be in control and easily won the opening game with a score of 21–12.

The second game was completely won by Chirag and Satwik, who did not allow their opponents a chance. 

The Indian pair led by 6 points at the half and held that advantage the entire match, winning 21-10 to advance to the quarterfinals. 

They will now take on Japan’s Takuro Hogi & Yugo Kobayashi, who are seeded second.

Lakshya Sen, who won bronze last year, was shocked by HS Prannoy in a three-game thriller. 

Both players traded points during the highly contested match before Lakshya Sen grabbed an 11-8 advantage into halftime. After the break, Sen continued to dominate, winning the first game with ease (21-17).

In the second game, HS Prannoy produced a tremendous comeback by maneuvering Lakshya Sen about the court. Long rallies featured Lakshya Sen’s powerful comeback. 

Sen held a slim 11-10 lead at the interval at the halfway point of the match. After the interval, Prannoy outplayed Lakshya Sen, winning the 2nd game by a score of 21-16 to force a decider.

With both players giving each other no quarter in the third game, Prannoy put up an amazing display. Prannoy was in the lead with a score of 11-8 at the half. 

The game ebbed and flowed after the break but giantkiller Prannoy maintained his composure to win the third set at 21-17 and advance to the quarterfinals. 

Zhao Jung Peng of China, who beat Lee Jii Zia of Malaysia, will now be his opponent.

In three games, Busnan Ongamburghan of Thailand defeated Saina Nehwal valiantly. Both players had a strong start, as they tied the score at 2-2.

The Thai player displayed her talent by establishing a sizable 11-3 lead into halftime. 

Saina put forth a valiant effort after the break, blocking her opponent with exquisite drop strokes and cross-court smashes. Busnan won the opening match 21-17.

The Indian got off to a good start in the second game by hitting some beautiful strokes and tricking her opponent. 

Saina was up 11-6 at the break in the action. Busnan put in a brave fight after the break, but Indian won the second match by a score of 21-16 to force a decider.

Both players received two points each to start off the third game. Both players struggled for every point until the score was tied at seven. 

The Thai player carried an 11-9 edge into the break throughout the middle of the game. 

After the interval, the Indian did not appear confident in her shots, and Busnan comfortably won the third game, 21-13.
