Britney Spears’ father files petition to end conservatorship, court yet to make a call

Jamie Spears, the father of pop singer Britney Spears, was handed control of the singer’s life in 2008 and 13 years later, he has finally decided to end the conservatorship of his daughter with a petition filed in the Los Angeles court on Tuesday.

The development of the case saw many turns this year with the pop singer coming out to confirm that she has indeed been subjected to humiliation and abusive treatment under these arrangements. She had filed legal documents in the court and asked the judge to immediately remove her father as the overseer of her $60 million estate.

When the singer first called out the practice of conservatorship, there were a lot of strong responses that came in but when she made her recent remark, her father said that he was willing to step down from the role. He also went ahead and asked the court to entirely put a full stop at the conservatorship.

As per media outlets, Jamie Spears said, “Britney Spears is entitled to have this Court now seriously consider whether this conservatorship is no longer required.” He also added that the whole situation has changed and why the conservatorship was earlier established has changed entirely.

However, this was the statement only maintained by Jamie as his supporters or fellow members of this arrangement did not comment on the call made by him in front of the court. They had reserved their statement despite Britney alleging them of abusing her during the tenure of 13 years.

The 39-year-old singer remains under the care of professional Jodi Montgomery. Montgomery is responsible for managing her personal as well as professional affairs and the expert and her people have never openly shared about her mental health issues, if they were any during her past actions.

Spears reportedly saw a lot of encouragement from her fans after a campaign called #FreeBritney began on social media sites demanding the court to free the singer from all legal boundations and any form of ownership on her. Anything further in the case will only be made clear on September 29, the date Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny has scheduled the next hearing.
