BRICS Membership Boosts UAE’s Global Economic and Environmental Efforts

Minister of Climate Change and the Environment of UAE Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak Al Shamsi played a significant role at the BRICS High-Level Dialogues on Climate Change in Moscow. This event featured two key sessions. One focused on “National Efforts to Combat Climate Change and Promote Sustainable Development,” and the other on “Cooperation of the BRICS Countries on Climate Change and Sustainable Development.”

During the first session Dr. Amna Al Dahak highlighted the commitment of UAE to environmental sustainability. She highlighted the pledge of UAE to reduce emissions by 40 percent by 2030 it aligns with the Net Zero 2050 Strategy of UAE. This strategy emphasizes a comprehensive approach to reducing emissions across various sectors. Dr. Al Dahak also noted the UAE’s investment of US$50 billion in renewable energy projects worldwide, with plans to invest an additional US$50 billion in the next decade. She underscored the importance of international collaboration, particularly among BRICS nations, to address climate change effectively.

Dr Amna Al Dahhak shows the urgency of cooperation to tackle climate change. He warned that without such cooperation, global efforts to tackle pressing challenges such as hunger, poverty and access to clean water could be seriously weakened. He reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to international initiatives and partnerships aimed at achieving a sustainable future for all.

Younis Haji Al Khoori the Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Finance the strategic highlighted the role of UAE in BRICS. He highlighted that the UAE in BRICS aligns with the “We the UAE 2031” vision. It aims to strengthen the role of the UAE as a global economic partner. Al Khoori highlighted that the participation of the UAE in BRICS would enhance balanced economic relations promote sustainable national growth, and solidify the position of UAE in emerging markets. He also pointed out that the leadership of UAE in international trade cooperation has bolstered its capacity to address critical global issues and foster economic growth.

Al Khoori discussed the efforts of the UAE to collaborate with BRICS countries on financial and economic matters. This includes exploring opportunities for cooperation in tax and customs, as well as strengthening the financial sector of the UAE through advanced digital infrastructure and legislative frameworks. He emphasized that the membership of UAE in BRICS presents an opportunity to create large economic, trade, and investment prospects.

The active participation of the UAE in BRICS shows the commitment of the country to enhance global partnerships.
