In an operation, the Indian Navy intercepted a dhow in the Western Arabian Sea on April 13, in which 940 kg of contraband was seized. Operating in support of the Canadian-led Combined Task Force (CTF) 150, INS Talwar conducted its first narcotics interdiction since joining the Combined Maritime Force (CMF).
A spokesperson of the Indian Navy tweeted “The ship’s specialist boarding teams & #MARCOs seized 940 kgs of contraband narcotics. The drugs are being disposed of as per CMF SOPs,”
CMF, a coalition of 42 nations, is dedicated to maintaining security and stability across 3.2 million square miles of critical waterways, in order to uphold the international rules-based order. This operation highlights the Indian Navy’s dedication to addressing unlawful activities at sea and ensuring maritime security.
Since joining CMF last November, the Indian Navy has quickly showcased its expertise in maritime law enforcement. The recent deployment of INS Talwar led to impressive outcomes, as the personnel successfully seized 453 kg of methamphetamines, 416 kg of hash, and 71 kg of heroin.
