‘Boycott Bollywood’ trend is demonstrating surprising results. There were 60 films released this year. Only 6 Bollywood films could perform well, all other 54 films flopped.
Bollywood is dominated by bad luck, we cannot deny it at all. We cannot deny that people are not avoiding Bollywood content.
Most of the Bollywood films used to be copy-paste (remakes) or biopics. The situation has become such that Bollywood movies are proving to be flops continuously.
More than one superstar’s films made at the cost of crores have also fallen flat at the box office.
It is worth noting that from January to September, that is, in 263 days, about 60 films were released. Out of these, only 6 films are such, which have been able to earn a little at the box office, the remaining 54 films proved to be superflops.
These films include films ranging from Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, Amitabh Bachchan, John Abraham and other superstars.
At the beginning of the year i.e. in January, 36 films were released. But none of them could perform well. They were not even in the headlines.
Then in February, films like Loop Lapeta, Deepayan, Badhaai Do, Gangubai Kathiawadi and Love Hostel were released.
Out of these, only one Alia Bhatt‘s film Gangubai Kathiawadi managed to earn a little, the rest of the films were badly flopped.
Films like Jhund, Tulsidas Jr, The Kashmir Files, Bachchan Pandey, Jalsa and Sharmaji Namkeen were released in the month of March.
Out of these, only The Kashmir Files starring Anupam Kher and Mithun Chakraborty was a hit, which was made at a low budget of ₹15 Crore. The Kashmir Files earned ₹ 252.90 crore at the box office.
The rest of the films that Bollywood had high hopes for but flopped badly.
After that Attack 2, Kaun Praveen Tambe, Cobalt Blue, Dasvi, Hurdang, Jersey, Operation Romeo, Runway 34 and Heropanti 2 were released in the month of April.
None of these films could be a hit at the box office. From Abhishek Bachchan to Ajay Devgn and Tiger Shroff, all proved to be flops.
Movies like Mere Desh Ki Dharti, Thar, Jayeshbhai Jordaar, Bhool Bhulaiya 2, Dhakad, Anek, Dehati Disco were released in May.
Out of these, Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 became a hit. Otherwise all the other movies at the box office fell flat.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 did a very good collection, while even big stars like Ranveer Singh and Anil Kapoor could not do well.
In June, films like Samrat Prithviraj, Major, Janhit Mein Jari, Arth, Nikamma, Sher Dil, Jug Jug Jio and Forensic were released.
Of these, Anil Kapoor-Varun Dhawan-Kiara Advani’s film Jug Jug Jio joined Bollywood’s 100 crore flop, which collected Rs 135.19 crore.
In July, Rocketry, Rashtra Kavach Om, Khuda Hafiz 2, Shabaash Mithu, HIT, Juda Hoke Bhi, Shamshera, RK, Ek Villain Returns and Good Luck Jerry were released.
Not a single one of these films could do well at the box office, all the films proved to be flops badly.
Darlings, Rakshabandhan, Lalsingh Chaddha, Dobara, Liger, Holy Cow were released in August. None of these films could do well.
These films were declared flops at the box office as soon as they were released. In this September month, Cuttputali, Brahmastra, Saroj’s relationship, Siya, Jaha Chaar Yaar, Middle Class Love got released. Only the Cuttputali got a decent response on OTT.
Brahmastra was rumored to be a hit by several news media sources. But the reality is that Brahmastra also flopped!
Because it was made on a budget of 410 crores, this film collected 211.70 crores at the Indian box office. Even if it includes the foreign collection it could only earn ₹280 crore. Thus it’s still at the loss of ₹130 crores.
Meanwhile, South’s films RRR and KGF 2 made a huge bang in the Hindi version. Because of these films, many Bollywood films could not survive at the box office.
RRR earned Rs 274.31 crore at the Indian box office. At the same time, KGF 2 collected a collection of Rs 434.70 crore. Along with these several south industries films also became hits.
