Jasprit Bumrah is a name that will go down history for being one of the most promising bowlers in the world and the best that the country has produced till now. Be it the death overs or taking the control of the game at initial stages, he does it with utmost effortlessness.
It is because of Bumrah and the seam attack produced by the Indian bowlers that the team was able to register an outstanding victory at the Oval after 50 years. Life comes to a full circle, they say but this time it will be called the ‘Oval’ for these Indian players.
Bumrah showed his magic when things were definitely not in the favour of the team. The experts, commentators, everyone was of the view that Bumrah or any other bowler for that matter will not be able to deliver on a flat pitch like the Oval’s at the given situation.
The experts at the commentary box were sure of the pitch not being favorable for the bowlers as they straight away pointed at the pitch, calling it flat.
He said that at a pitch like this, batters are not even sparing Chris Woakes, who is England’s best bowler this tournament. They were visibly concerned for Bumrah and the other seamers, on which the whole match was dependent.
But then, someone who barely fits the definition of fast bower in our minds came on the ground and changed the picture all together. When we say he doesn’t fit the image of a fast bowler, it is because he is neither as tall nor as well-built like them but his talent doesn’t really care about how he looks.
On the last day, when there was no Shami or Ishant Sharma, the team had to rely on Bumrah and clearly he did not disappoint. Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets for 27 in 222 blistering overs and proved himself non only a reliable bowler for such a situation but an exceptionally talented one at that.
Bumrah convinced all those watching him that he, the now fastest Indian pacer to 100 wickets, is the one to rely on during the last stages. He proved to be lethal for the English side as it broke their patience and will power by six over reverse swinging burst after the lunch break. Of course, we cannot forget the contribution of Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur, who were also excellent with the ball. Umesh Yadav also worked when Bumrah seemed to slightly miss to judge the batman. Nevertheless, it was the seamers who paved the way to the victory for the Indian side.
Cricket experts, Indian or International, were also all praises to the performance put up by the bowling side and get the much awaited victory at the Oval.
