Bombay HC dismisses depression theory in Sushant Singh Rajput’s case

Last updated on January 11th, 2021 at 05:10 am

Depression Theory: Earlier reports and statements in the matter of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death suggested that the actor was depressed and was receiving treatment for his anxiety issues but despite all those claims, Bombay High Court said that Rajput looked so ‘innocent and sober’ that he could not have been depressed.

The Bombay HC was conducting a hearing for a plea filed by sisters of the late actor on January 7. The court reserved its order on the plea, which was filed to squash the FIR filed by Rhea Chakraborty against them.

After her release, Rhea Chakraborty has filed an FIR with the Mumbai Police against Meetu Singh and Priyanka Singh for procuring medicines for rajput through illegal means. The lawyer from the sister’s side argued that the medicines were not procured for illegal sources rather prescribed through telemedicine, which comes under the guidelines of iCMR.

Vikas Singh along with the additional solicitor general Anil Singh were on the same tune as they said that the case was under the Central Bureau of Investigation and hence the FIR must be quashed.

All these claims by the defence were dismissed by Chakraborty’s side, who argued that for the duration his client was with the late actor, he was receiving treatment for his depression.

“For 14 months that Rhea was with SSR [Sushant Singh Rajput], he consulted five top psychiatric doctors and was taking medicines prescribed by them. A statement by one of SSR’s servants says that a few nights before SSR’s death he had rolled four joints for SSR. And, when SSR died, these joints were not there. The doctors had said that drugs and medicines were a lethal combination and Rhea had asked him not to take drugs.”

The lawyer, who was representing Mumbai Police’s case, said that the couple had an argument which led Rhea to leave the house soon after which, his sisters were present with him.

Considering the complexities of the case, the Bombay High Court did not immediately gave a judgment. It reserved its judgement but certain remarks were made by the Justices SS Shinde and MS Karnik. As per a report in the PTI, Shinde said, “Whatever the case…from Sushant Singh Rajput’s face one could make out that he was innocent and sober…and a good human being. Everybody liked him especially in that M S Dhoni film.”
