The INIFD Launchpad show at Lakme Fashion Week 2023 was a platform for emerging designers to showcase their collections. In the INIFD show, talented students from INIFD displayed their fashion collections.
One of them, Leesa Shah, was inspired by the Kalamkari craft, and her collection was full of beautiful fabrics and colors.
Bhumika and Ketaki showcased a collection with Indian and Western influences, using all-cotton fabrics. It had lovely block prints and embroidery.
Preksha and Soumya’s collection was inspired by prints from Turkey, and they used block prints in blue and dark orange to create a unique look.

Zubiya and Prachi focused on beadwork from Gujarat for their collection, using a limited color palette of white, blue, red, grey, and yellow. Their collections were formal and semi-formal.
Rajveer and Anisha’s collection drew inspiration from medieval manuscripts and miniature paintings. They used silk and tabby silk to create elegant Indo-western outfits with various ornamentations and a wide range of colors.
Actress Hina Khan looked stunning in a petal skirt and white top. The designers Paras and Shalini had Alaya F on the runway, wearing sheer tasseled pants and a backless bralette, making a glam statement.
Actor Jim Sarbh added a different style to the event, walking the ramp in an all-white look, with a trench coat and mandarin collar shirt.
Lakme Fashion Week was first held in New Delhi in 2000. It was organized by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) and sponsored by Lakmé. The event was a success and helped to put Indian fashion on the global map.
In 2006, Lakme Fashion Week shifted to Mumbai. It is now held twice a year, once in March and another in October. The event is now organized by Lakmé and IMG Reliance Limited.
