On Tuesday, Mumbai’s Brihan Municipal Corporation (BMC) declared that the civic body will produce 2,269 beds for coronavirus along with 360 ICU beds, in private hospitals with prompt effect because of the surge in coronavirus cases in the state.
Maharashtra has been reporting a rise in the number of daily new covid cases. According to the state health department, Maharashtra recorded 31,643 new cases, bringing the total to 27,45,518.
BMC has directed the private hospitals to keep adequate ICU beds accessible for coronavirus cases. The private health establishments have charged Covid patients according to government rules.
BMC chief Iqbal Singh Chahal expressed that “there will be over 3,000 beds vacant in Mumbai for coronavirus patients. We are likewise operationalizing extra 1,500 beds in Jumbo field hospitals and take beds around 7,000 by end of this week.”
No one will be given a bed directly by hospitals; however, they will be allotted by 24 ward war rooms only. Moreover, nobody should try to get a positive coronavirus report directly from the labs.
“Let the report come to us in our list from labs and we will go to their homes with the availability of beds as we have been doing since June 2020. Please let us all follow the protocols please,” BMC chief added.
The Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced on Friday that the state government is forcing a nighttime curfew in Mumbai from March 28, starting at 8:00 pm till 7:00 am on Monday.
The night curfew will be enforced as a result of a surge in the new COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra as it has been reporting over 30,000 cases day by day for the past couple of days.
