BJP, Shiv Sena, NCP To Meet For 1st Maharashtra Cabinet Meeting

The first cabinet meeting of the three-party coalition consisting of Shiv Sena, BJP, and NCP is currently taking place at Mantralaya in Mumbai. 

Led by Eknath Shinde from Shiv Sena, Ajit Pawar from NCP, and the BJP, the coalition is discussing important matters. 

Simultaneously, the Congress is holding a meeting of its legislators to discuss the issue of staking a claim to the post of Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly.

Following the recent split within the NCP, the drama has intensified. NCP chief Sharad Pawar expelled MPs Sunil Tatkare and Praful Patel on Monday for “anti-party activities.” 

This came after Patel removed Jayant Patil as the Maharashtra NCP president and appointed Tatkare as the new state president. 

Jayant Patil had initiated disqualification proceedings against Ajit Pawar and eight other party MLAs by sending a letter to Ajit Pawar.

On Sunday, Jitendra Awhad replaced Ajit Pawar as the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly after Ajit Pawar joined the Maharashtra government, causing a split within the NCP.

Ajit Pawar is also set to inaugurate the new office of the NCP, located in an A5 bungalow opposite the Mantralaya, on Tuesday. This move is likely to escalate the battle between Ajit Pawar and his uncle, NCP president Sharad Pawar. 

Ajit Pawar has been claiming that the NCP as a party has joined the Maharashtra government and he does not represent a faction. On Monday, his group removed Jayant Patil as the state unit chief and appointed Sunil Tatkare in his place.

Since Sharad Pawar’s NCP controls the party headquarters in the Ballard Estate area, Ajit Pawar’s camp has decided to establish its own office near Mantralaya, indicating their intention to stake claim over the party.

The situation is still uncertain regarding how many NCP MLAs support each faction, but all attention is focused on July 5 when Ajit Pawar has called a meeting of all legislators and party functionaries.

Meanwhile, the Congress has scheduled a meeting of its legislators to discuss future plans, including staking a claim to the Leader of Opposition post in the Legislative Assembly. Jitendra Awhad was appointed as the Leader of Opposition by the NCP on Sunday.
