Sharma is known for his strong association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and has been a dedicated member of the BJP. His educational background includes a master’s degree in political science, and he also runs an agriculture supplies business.

The BJP had several prominent leaders like Vasundhara Raje and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who were considered potential candidates.
