10 best villains names in Bollywood (Hindi Movie Villains)

10 best villains names in Bollywood (Hindi Movie Villains)

Last updated on July 25th, 2023 at 11:15 am

The spotlight isn’t always on the heroes! Recently, we’ve been thinking back on Bollywood and Hindi movie villains that we adore to hate because, without them, our favourite movies wouldn’t be the same. They are so vile and so despised that it nearly feels like we know them personally! Our infatuation with villains most likely developed as a result of western fantasy films, where truly evil characters were portrayed with excellent acting. But in this blog, we’re primarily mentioning the Hindi film villains that are the stuff of our darkest worries. Let’s look at it!

1) Gabbar

gabbar 1

There is hardly a single Indian alive who is unaware of this classic movie from 1975! Even though storylines sometimes revolve around hackneyed plotlines, the characters in the movie made it one for the ages just as Hindi cinema was beginning to grow and expand its audience. But set aside the protagonist for a moment—Amjad Khan’s portrayal of “Gabbar” was what really captivated the audience and caused gasps of both dread and awe! He entered the scene in all his menacing magnificence, from his leather belt squeaking on the floor to his mafia moustache!

2) Mogambo

There is a lot to be said about Amrish Puri, who has played more than one favourite Hindi movie villain in Bollywood, and who will always be remembered for it! The late actor undoubtedly had an irreplaceable impact on our business with his compelling skill set and an even more convincing ruse. He made the sci-fi film Mr. India’s audience sit on the edge of their seats as Mogambo. Amrish Puri’s role was nothing short of immoral and sadistic, with a difficult-to-ignore attire, a nasty skull-stick, a throne, and even a group of devoted followers ready to leap in acid water at his beck and call!

3) Kancha Cheena (Agneepath 1990)

kancha cheena

Who is the sexiest bad guy in Bollywood? It’s true that movie villains rarely seem convincing throughout the entire film, but Danny Denzongpa’s Kancha Cheena in the 1990 film Agneepath managed to pull it off! Nearly 30 years later, the actor is still referred to as Kancha Cheena, thanks in part to his slick, mafia-perfect wardrobe and a number of potent quips.

One of the greatest Hindi movie villains and underworld Don characters we’ve seen (beating even SRK!) is Danny, who served as the self-appointed leader of the underworld. He owes a lot of his notoriety as the embodiment of evil to the screenwriters of the film. His repulsive appeal was supported by some of the spookiest dialogue.

4) Kancha Cheena (Agneepath 2012)

Sanjay Dutt has a reputation for always playing leading, uplifting parts. We were all shocked when Agneepath was released and Dutt was reportedly reprising Danny Denzongpa’s perpetually scary persona! The film didn’t let down, though, as Sanjay Dutt’s physique and makeup supported the vile role he was playing.

Despite the lack of legendary actors in the 2012 remake, Dutt gave a startling performance as one of the scariest Hindi movie villains, making us despise him to the core. Sanjay Dutt’s Kancha was the ideal counterpoint to Hrithik’s stern innocence and desire for retribution.

5) Lion

It may seem strange for a villain to be well-groomed and sophisticated, but Lion from Kalicharan, a Bollywood thriller film, featured just that! This ill-intentioned figure, played by Ajit Singh, receives all the votes for the evil vibes he gives off! As his moniker implies, he was ruthless without restraint. His voice, soft-spoken and accented, didn’t immediately suggest bad intent, but if you listen closely, you can finally see through the front.

6) Ranjeet

ranjeet

Who is the greatest villain to ever grace Bollywood? Each and every one of us women has experienced catcalls and malicious looks. Even though this is a very severe issue, Bollywood once used a villain in the film Amir Garib to portray it. Ranjeet Bedi, renowned as the serial molester of Hindi cinema, was spotted playing the part of “Ranjeet,” a cunning and twisted antagonist with only bad deeds to his name. In the 1970s and 1980s, movies tended to focus on narratives in which the hero tries to rescue the damsel in distress from a clearly defined evil. In the present, this story has been overused. But back then, it was the best way to amuse, and they did just that.

7) Prem

mr. prem chopra

Recall Prem? Mr. Prem Chopra If not, you might recall the Bollywood romance film cliche, “Prem Naam Hai Mera, Prem Chopra!” This devil of yore grabbed the industry by storm with his malign-laced voice and a smile that was immediately labelled evil. His more menacing exchanges significantly raised the standard for those slated to play villains on the big screen.

8) Diana

The 2013 film Ek Thi Dayan, which was directed by Kannan Iyer, is credited with being Bollywood’s first attempt at the evil witch story. Prior to this mystery/horror movie, movies were more concerned with gore and gritty scenes, but that changed for the better with its shocking conclusion! For the first time ever, Konkona—a very well-known and respected actress—appeared in a role like this, and it featured one of the darkest Hindi film villains ever! We also adore the name-play on “Diana,” and we should have known from the moment she was introduced that she was a witch.

9) Shanaya

How can we overlook Bipasha’s character Shanaya from the 2012 film Raaz while we’re talking about horror films and top Bollywood villains that generated a lot of money at the box office? She presented a compelling case for a stunning yet ambitious villain who will initially come off as quite regular and even a little tempting in one of the most popular Bollywood mystery films. Continue watching the movie to witness how Shanaya will stop at nothing to acquire what she wants, even if that means using deadly black magic. starring, among others, Jacqueline Fernandes, Esha Gupta, and Emran Hashmi.

10) Madhu

Let’s talk about Ashwini Kalsekar, who starred in one of the best Hindi horror films, Phoonk, directed by RGV, last but not least. This film serves as evidence of RGV’s complete mastery of creepy characters and their basic characteristics. We’re not joking when we say it will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Powerhouse of an actor, Ashwini Kalsekar is renowned for always giving powerful performances! Her performance in Phoonk was excellent, as was her work in Hindi and Marathi films. She is shown in the car while whimpering, screaming, and wailing, which is one of the movie’s most terrifying images. She portrays a dependable coworker to the main character and uses black magic on her daughter in an effort to exact revenge.
