Cricket is known as the gentleman’s game. It is the most loved sport in the Indian subcontinent. With its unique strategies, athleticism, and skill, the game has won the hearts of millions of fans worldwide. Originating in England, it spread during colonial rule. Now 12 nations play the game in all the formats from tests, ODIs, and T20s while 96 nations are associate members.
Here we talk about the top ten players in the world playing the game in the ODI and T20 formats. From Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, to David Warner the list would see the best batsmen from all the cricket playing nations in the 50 over format.
Babar Azam – The Pakistan Captain is placed at number 1 as per the ICC rankings of top 10 batsmen in the ODI format. Babar has a rating of 824 points and has a career best rating for his performance against the West Indies at Multan Cricket Ground in 2022.
The Prince of Indian Cricket makes to the second place as per the ICC rankings. Shubman is a top order right handed batsman known for his fabulous cut and hook shots along with playing down the ground. His favourite shot is the square cut. He has an overall rating of 801 points and his career best innings was in indore in 2023 for which he got 847 points.
Known as the King of cricket or the Chase Master for his brilliance in chasing the totals, he has the highest batting average overall and in run chases it hikes up to 3 digits. King Kohli has the highest number of centuries in the 50 over format surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 50 international hundreds during the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023. His favourite shot is the cover drive. His overall points in the ICC points table is 768 and career best innings was versus England at Headingley in 2018 for which he got 909 points by the ICC.
Coming at number 4 as per the ICC rankings, Indian Captain Rohit Sharma is an opener and is famous for his pull shot. His six hitting has earned him the name of Hitman. As per the ICC rankings, his total points is 746 and a career best was at Headingley in 2019 versus SriLanka for which he got 882 points.
At number 5, we have Irish batsman Harry Tector. According to the ICC rankings, he has 746 points and a career best innings vs Afghanistan at Sharjah in 2024 for which he got 767 points.
New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell is at number 6 with 728 overall points and 750 points for his career best innings against India at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium in 2023.

David Warner means destruction and the opener quite proves it in the field. Warner is known for his fire ups and ball hammering power. He is at 723 points overall and 869 points as the career best for his innings against Pakistan at Adelaide Oval in 2017.
The Srilankan has a career best vs Bangladesh at Chittagong for which he received 728 points according to the ICC and has 711 overall points.
The English lefty batsman is known for destructive hitting. His sixes and fours hitting ability has made him a match-winner for England. Dawid Malan stands at 9th position after securing 707 overall points in the ICC points table and 730 points vs Netherlands at Pune 2023.
At 10th position, we have a player from the Proteas. He has an overall points of 701 and a career best vs England giving him 796 points. The match was played at Durham in 2022.
