The Indian Women’s Badminton team made history by reaching the final of the Badminton Asia Team Championships in Malaysia after defeating Japan 3-2 in a thrilling match. The team secured a medal finish with this victory.

Japan fought back as the pair of Miyaura-Sakuramoto defeated India’s Sindhu-Ponappa duo in two sets, tying the match at 2-2.
The final game was crucial, with Anmol Kharb securing the win for India by defeating Japan’s Nidaira Natsuki in two sets, 21-14, 21-18, sending India to the finals for the first time.
This victory was significant for India, with 17-year-old Anmol Kharb playing a key role in the team’s success. The team showed resilience and determination throughout the match, ultimately emerging victorious and making history by reaching the final of the tournament.
So finally, Japan’s women’s badminton team was eliminated from the Badminton Asia Team Championships 2024 by India in a 3-2 semi-final loss. India advanced to the final against Thailand, who beat Indonesia 3-1.
Despite Japan’s Ohori Aya defeating PV Sindhu in the opening singles match, India’s Ashmita Chaliha and the doubles team of Treesa Jolly/Gayatri Gopichand Pullela secured crucial wins.
