Can you believe that Samajwadi Party leaders had given a 3.24-acre land for a 30-year lease at just ₹100 per year? The Income Tax dept will reveal the truth!
The Income Tax department conducted raids on senior Samajwadi Party leader, Azam Khan and people associated with him for 3 days.
The IT department suspects that he has evaded taxes worth more than ₹800 crore. The raids are linked to the Al Jauhar Trust Case.
The raids took place in various locations in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The Income Tax officials reached Khan’s residence on Wednesday morning and completed their search on Friday evening.
The investigation is focused on trusts run by Khan and his family members, and they are also looking into government expenditure files.
The Al Jauhar Trust Case revolves around the Al Jauhar Trust, which received a 30-year lease on a 3.24-acre land in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, provided by the state government.
The catch here is that the lease was granted for a mere Rs 100 per year, by the administration of Samajwadi Party.
Despite this lease, the Al Jauhar Trust failed to construct the intended research institute on the land. This raised questions about the trust’s use of the land and the legitimacy of the lease.
The construction cost of the university is also under probe. Initially, the estimated cost was a staggering ₹2,000 crore under the Azam Khan ministry. The Samajwadi Party government also levied a 1% labor cess, amounting to ₹20 crore.
But when Yogi Adityanath became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, under BJP’s rule, the cost was reduced to just ₹147 crore.
Senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan has been involved in this case due to his association with the Al Jauhar Trust. His role and connections with the trust have come under investigation.
Apart from Azam Khan, several other individuals have been linked to this case. These include Saeed Khan, an accountant at the Jauhar University, SP MLA Naseer Ahmad Khan, Late Rakesh Jain, and Shavez Khan.

Azam Khan had also faced legal troubles in the past. He was convicted in a hate speech case, which led to his three-year imprisonment and disqualification as an MLA from Rampur.
Although he was later discharged by a higher court, his disqualification remained due to his conviction in another case.
The Income Tax department conducted raids at over 30 locations in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh in connection with this case.
The locations include residences, offices, and properties related to Azam Khan and those associated with him.
The Income Tax department suspects that there may have been tax evasion exceeding Rs 800 crore related to this case. This suspicion has led to intensive investigations.
