Ayushmann Khurrana’s ‘Dream Girl 2’ Gets New Release Date

Last updated on July 25th, 2023 at 11:14 am

The initial release date of ‘Dream Girl 2’ was July 7, 2023. Ayushmann Khurrana shared an audio message in the voice of ‘Pooja’ announcing the new release date.

The new release date for the Dream Girl 2 movie starring actors Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Pandey is August 25, 2023.

The comedy-drama is a follow-up to Dream Girl, a 2019 film starring Khurrana.

Raaj Shaandilya, the original director, will oversee the picture. The first part of Dream Girl grossed 139.37 crore rupees at the box office in 2019.

In recent months, Bollywood has made significant bets on sequels and franchise movies to capitalize on the popularity of films like Bhool Bhulaiya, Heropanti, and Ek Villain, among others.

In addition to the sequels to Tiger Shroff’s Heropanti and the period drama KGF, Kartik Aaryan was last seen in the horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiya 2 in May. In July, Ekta Kapoor added to her Ek Villain series with a new installment, and Sunny Deol will return in Zee Studios’ Gadar sequel.

Given the popularity of prior films, the formula may pique some interest, but the negative reception to recent titles such as Bunty Aur Babli 2 suggests that rushing a story ahead may not work, according to critics and industry experts.

The other difficulty is that Hindi movies lack the majesty and special effects of Hollywood superhero movies, which are the source of inspiration for these sequels.

In reality, there are two main motives for sequel creation. One is driven by creativity, the other by business. Extending a popular story in a recognized yet original way is fantastic financial potential if fans have embraced it.

The attractiveness of the predecessor will always be a source of inspiration for the sequel, according to Shariq Patel, chief business officer at Zee Studios, in a previous interview with Mint.

However, experts said that in recent years, it has been difficult to market and audiences have been let down by spiritual sequels, or movies with entirely different stories or casts but only sharing the same genre as the original.
