Atul Parchure Passes Away at 57, Leaving a Void in Marathi Theatre and Cinema

Marathi actor Atul Parchure known for his immense contribution to theatre, television, and cinema, passed away on Monday at the age of 57. He was fighting for two years with cancer. Parchure was a versatile actor in both Marathi and Hindi entertainment industries.

According to the Times of India, Parchure’s passing leaves a significant void in the Marathi film and theatre world.

Parchure made his debut in 1985 with the Marathi film “Khichdi” and became a household name, particularly for his performances in plays like “Vasu Chi Sasu” and films such as “Navra Majha Navsacha” and “Priyatama.”  India Today wrote in his tribute that he was also well-known for his roles in Hindi television shows like Comedy Nights With Kapil and R K Laxman Ki Duniya.

In recent years Parchure battled cancer with remarkable resilience. Earlier this year he made a brief return to the stage with the Marathi play “Suryaachi Pille,” showcasing his fighting spirit. Despite his determination, his health worsened, and he spent his last days at H N Reliance Foundation Hospital, as Hindustan Times noted.

Veteran actor Ashok Saraf expressed his sorrow, he said “This is a devastating loss for the Marathi film industry. Atul was not only a brilliant actor but also a dear friend”.

Actress Supriya Pilgaonkar also paid tribute on Instagram, remembering Parchure for his warm spirit and enduring positivity.

Many actors, directors, and fans are posting on social media to mourn his passing.

Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor shared a story on his IG. He wrote, “ I never got the opportunity to work with him, but I was always a fan of his characters. He fought a long battle with life. May God give peace to his soul.”
