At least 15 JMB terrorists entered India through West Bengal, moved to other states

An interrogation of three JMB (Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh) terrorists revealed stark information. At least 15 JMB operatives had infiltrated India through West Bengal earlier this year through Bangladesh.

Kolkata Police’s Special Task Force (STF) officer said that 10 of these operatives moved to various states including Jammu and Kashmir while the remaining five stayed back in West Bengal.

Three of them, who are Bangladeshi nationals were arrested by STF on Sunday from south Kolkata’s Haridevpur area. The operatives Najiur Rahman, Rabiul Islam, and Sabir used to sell fruits for a living.

The interrogation of these three revealed that the remaining 10 terrorists have gone to Jammu & Kashmir, Odisha and Bihar. The other two in West Bengal are Sheikh Sakil and Salim Munshi, who are still at large. “Sakil had helped them (the three others) in preparing fake Aadhaar cards which they had used to get accommodation on rent in Haridevpur. The three came to India following the instructions of senior JMB leader Al Ameen,” the officer said.

The Bangladesh police have been arrested by STF to know further details about the three arrested JMB operatives. The landlord of the house where the trio was living too has been called in for questioning.

As of Monday, the NIA (National Investigation Agency) has also started collecting information about the arrested operatives. “We have started gathering information about them and trying to find out who else is associated with them. We are at a very initial stage,” an NIA officer said.

The three operatives have for now been sent into police custody for 14 days by a city court.

JMB is a banned Bangladeshi outfit that was responsible for carrying out a terror attack in 2016 at a popular café in Dhaka that killed 22 people including 17 foreigners. In 2019 the NIA had warned of JMB trying to pan itself in India.
