Tuesday, April 6 2021, marks the beginning of Assembly Elections in four states- Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam and Kerala – and Union Territory of Puducherry. The day will record voting across 750 constituencies across the states and UT, with voting beginning at 7 am.
Voting in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry will be carried out in single phase polling on Tuesday. West Bengal on the other hand is all set for its third phase with five more phases ahead. Assam is having its final phase of the three phases on Tuesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to all citizens across the constituencies to exercise their freedom to vote and be a part of democracy.

In West Bengal, over 78.5 lakh voters will exercise their right to vote. In the state BJP is seeking to overthrow the Trinamool Congress government and the Left Front-ISF-Congress alliance is also hoping to perform well. 205 candidates are in fray, including BJP leader Swapan Dasgupta, TMC minister Ashima Patra and CPI(M) leader Kanti Ganguly in three districts -Howrah, Hooghly and South 24 Parganas.
