Arvind Kejriwal Skips ED’s Summon, To Attend MP Roadshow Instead

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money laundering case of Delhi liquor policy case.

Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, has decided not to go to the ED’s office to give his statement about the Delhi liquor policy case. 

He was supposed to go there at 11 a.m., but he wrote a letter to the ED asking them to cancel the summons, saying it was “illegal and politically motivated.” He feels that the summons are a way for the BJP to target him unfairly.

In his letter, Kejriwal also mentioned that the summons from the ED was unclear about whether he was being called as an individual, as the Chief Minister, or as the National Convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). This makes him suspect that the ED’s inquiry is just a way to cause trouble without any specific allegations.

Now, Arvind Kejriwal has a few ways to deal with this summons. He can ask the court to cancel the summons if he believes they’re not lawful. He also has the option to ask for a pre-arrest bail to avoid getting arrested if things go in that direction.

The reason why the ED is looking into the AAP leaders is because of a new policy about selling liquor in Delhi that they made but then got rid of. 

The Supreme Court and the ED believe that there might have been some wrongdoing in how the policy was made and how some private companies made a lot of money (₹338 crore) from it.

The BJP, the main opposition party, has responded that Kejriwal’s claims of political motives don’t make sense. 

They pointed out that the Supreme Court didn’t give bail to Manish Sisodia, a senior leader of AAP, because there seems to be proof of a big money trail.

Several political leaders believe that AAP has been involved in corruption and should answer the questions raised by the court and the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

In the Delhi Liquor policy case, Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and other AAP leaders are involved. Some are even in jail. Kejriwal, as Delhi’s CM, holds a high position. Ignoring the ED’s summons isn’t right. 

If a leader like him doesn’t follow the law, it sets a bad example for others. Leaders should lead by example, showing respect for the law is important for everyone, including politicians and citizens.
