Arvind Kejriwal asks if ‘Government means LG’ then where will the Delhi CM go?

Arvind Kejriwal started today during an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) dissent rally at Jantar Mantar that the ‘NCT bill 2021’ says, “the government means the L-G then where will the CM of Delhi go? For what reason were the elections done? The people of Delhi are being cheated by the ruling government. This isn’t right,” he stated.

On Wednesday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal asked the Union government to take back the bill (Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi Bill, 2021) which G. Kishan Reddy. The Union Minister of State for Home passed on 15 March 2021.

The Union government presented the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2021 on Monday in the Lok Sabha to revise the 1991 GNCT law.

The NCT Bill says that the government in Delhi will mean the L-G with regards to all enactment, and attempts to make it necessary for the Delhi government to seek Anil Baijal’s opinion before taking any administrative action.

The NCT Bill 2021 also says that the Delhi assembly can’t establish any committee to see into daily administrative matters.

Moreover, the bill explains that the words ‘government’ alluded to in any law to be made by the legislative assembly will mean the ‘Lieutenant Governor’.

The nation is celebrating its 75th year of freedom from the British and here we are where the BJP led Center government is seizing the democratic rights of people.

Amid a progressing tussle with Lt Governor Anil Baijal and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government since June 2018, the Delhi government told the Supreme Court that they were paralyzed because it couldn’t move or post-civil servants without LG’s (Anil Baijal) signatures.

The then SC bench stated in July 2018 that the LG’s approval was not required in matters other than land, public order, or police however issues should be conveyed to him. The court added that the LG must act on the advice of the council of ministers. After the SC judgment, the Delhi government stopped sending files regarding executive orders to Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal.

Once again the Centre has created hurdles for the Delhi CM Kejriwal, who stated today that the Union government has not just superseded a Supreme Court verdict of July 2018 but also opposed the democracy by presenting this unconstitutional NCT bill 2021.

Kejriwal in a Tweet expressed gratitude toward Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee for supporting Delhi people against the NCT Bill, 2021. Any individual who upholds India and its democracy can’t support this Bill. Hoping that the Centre will take back this Bill. He wished good health and prayed for her success in the upcoming West Bengal Assembly polls.
