The MOC meeting is scheduled to take place over two days, June 8 and 9, at Delhi’s Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range.

The purpose of the meeting is to assess India’s readiness for the Asian Games, which are set to be held in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8, 2022.

The review meeting will be attended by several prominent figures in Indian sports, including –

  • Kalyan Chaube (Joint Secretary, Indian Olympic Association),
  • Adille Sumariwalla (President, Athletics Federation of India),

And various distinguished athletes who are part of the MOC, such as Gagan Narang, Anju Bobby George, Viren Rasquinha, Trupti Murgunde, Monalisa Mehta, and Bhaichung Bhutia.

The Sports Minister will likely discuss various aspects, including infrastructure, training facilities, coaching, and support systems for athletes.

The goal is to ensure that Indian athletes have the necessary resources and support to perform at their best during the Asian Games.

By conducting this review, Anurag Thakur aims to assess the current state of India’s preparations and identify any gaps or areas that require improvement.

This process will allow the Sports Ministry and other relevant authorities to take appropriate measures to address any shortcomings and provide the best possible support to Indian athletes participating in the Asian Games.

The Asian Games serve as a platform for athletes from across Asia to compete in various sports disciplines, and it is crucial for India to have a strong contingent and perform well in these games.

The review conducted by the Sports Minister will ensure the success of Indian athletes at the international level by facilitating them with all the required resources.
