After the Anantnag terrorist attack, country demanded another surgical Strike. Indian forces started hunting down terrorists to maintain peace in the region.
In today’s encounter in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, security forces successfully neutralized two terrorists. The operation is still ongoing near the Line of Control in Uri.
The Kashmir Police Zone announced the encounter on social media, stating that it had started between terrorists and the Army and Baramulla Police in the forward area of Uri, Hathlanga. Later, it was also confirmed that two terrorists were killed in the operation.
This development comes just a day after a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror module was discovered in the Baramulla district. Two militant associates were arrested, and arms and ammunition were recovered from them.
The arrested individuals were involved in smuggling arms and ammunition across the border at the direction of Pakistan-based terror handlers.
In another operation in the Anantnag district, security forces are working to neutralize terrorists who have taken positions in the forest area. Drones have been deployed to locate the terrorists, and the operation has entered its fourth day.
The Additional Director General of Police (Kashmir), Vijay Kumar, stated that the operation was based on specific intelligence and that the trapped terrorists would be neutralized.
He also advised retired police and Army officers to refrain from speculating about the operation in the media.
In a tragic incident in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir on September 13, three brave officers had lost their lives while fighting terrorists.
DSP Humayun Bhat, Colonel Manpreet Singh, and Major Aashish D were martyred during an encounter in the Kokernag area.
The news of DSP Humayun Bhat’s death is particularly heart-wrenching as he leaves behind a young family, including a month-old baby.
The last rites of DSP Humayun Bhat were performed on Wednesday evening, and the visuals of his father, Ghulam Hassan Bhat, a former IG of the J&K Police, laying a wreath on his son’s coffin were incredibly emotional.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed his grief over the officers’ deaths and paid tributes to DSP Humayun Bhat.
The Indian Army also suffered losses in the encounter, with Colonel Manpreet Singh, the commanding officer of 19 Rashtriya Rifles, and Major Aashish D losing their lives. Both officers were critically injured and succumbed to excessive loss of blood.
Colonel Manpreet Singh was from Panchkula, Haryana, and is survived by his wife and two small children. Major Aashish D hailed from Panipat, Haryana, and is survived by his wife and a two-year-old daughter.
The encounter was carried out against terrorists in the Kokernag area, and the Pakistan-sponsored terrorist group, The Resistance Front, claimed responsibility for the attack.
It is believed that these terrorists were the same group responsible for an attack on Army personnel on August 4 in the Kulgam district, where three soldiers were martyred.
During the operation, warlike stores and a large quantity of medicines with Pakistan markings were seized from the terrorists’ hiding spot.
This further highlights the involvement of Pakistan in supporting and arming these terrorist groups.
The nation stands firmly with the families of these brave officers in this hour of grief. Their sacrifice and indomitable courage will always be remembered.
