The Musaffah Survey Campaign has succeeded in achieving a significant decline in coronavirus cases in the area through mass testing and sanitisation.
The six-week-long intense testing and sanitisation process in Abu Dabhi’s heavily-populated industrial area of Musaffah is being celebrated as a huge success. The area, with hundreds of thousands of workers, was identified as a potential hotspot should the virus spread. Now the coronavirus has been effectively contained here and the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention is hoping to replicate this in other areas like Al Ain and Al Dhafra in two weeks, according to UAE Voice.
The Musaffah Survey Campaign was successfully concluded with the testing of 570,000 residents, distribution of 1 million meals and 750,000 masks. Additionally, 260 residential complexes were sanitised and door-to-door screening was conducted for all blocks, including 2,730 buildings. This was done gradually and in phases.
The campaign began as an effort to take testing to all sections of the population and invite all community members to participate in the preventive measures required for public health. Free transportation was provided to workers from their accommodation to the testing centres and awareness programmes were conducted in different languages to help them stay safe from the virus. The testing was free of cost and the government ensured that everyone will come forward to get testing by announcing that no legal action would be taken if anyone were found to be staying there on expired visas.

“Protecting the community’s safety and curbing the spread of coronavirus is the top priority,” tweeted the Abu Dhabi Media Office. Commercial activities continued uninterrupted even though the entry and exit to the areas currently being sanitised were restricted.
