Amrit Bharat Station: 91 Railway Stations To Redevelop In NorthEast

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will initiate the redevelopment of 91 railway stations in the Northeast Frontier Railways (NFR) region as part of the ‘Amrit Bharat Station’ Scheme.

The scheme aims to improve the amenities and infrastructure of railway stations across the country. The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stones for the redevelopment of 56 stations in the NFR region, including those in Assam, Tripura, West Bengal, Bihar, Nagaland, and Meghalaya.

A total of ₹5,100 crore has been allocated for the redevelopment of these 91 stations, with ₹1,960 crore designated for the initial 56 stations.

The redevelopment plan focuses on long-term improvements, including enhancing station access, waiting areas, toilets, Wi-Fi, passenger information systems, and more.

The scheme also aims to integrate stations with the city, provide facilities for people with disabilities, and introduce environmentally friendly solutions.

The ‘Amrit Bharat Scheme’ envisions the phased development of stations with a comprehensive approach to enhance the overall passenger experience.

This includes features like ‘One Station One Product’ kiosks for local products, executive lounges, business meeting spaces, and sustainable infrastructure solutions.

The Prime Minister’s efforts to redevelop railway stations across the country aim to improve travel experiences for passengers and create vibrant city centers around the stations.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 32 railway stations in Assam on August 6 under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

This scheme has been identified for redevelopment, with 56 stations having their foundation stones laid on August 6.

The allocation for redeveloping these 91 stations is Rs 5100 crore, with Rs 1960 crore for the initial 56 stations.
