Amit Shah To Launch Country’s 1st Hindi Version Of MBBS Books

India is going to get MBBS books in the Hindi version for the first time, tomorrow (15th October). Home Minister Amit Shah will launch these Hindi MBBS books.

The Madhya Pradesh administration has determined that from this point forward, students will receive medical education in the state in Hindi as well.

On October 16, 2022, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will release the course materials for three MBBS courses.

Notably, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, acknowledged this development on social media.

Three MBBS textbooks for the first year of the programme will be unveiled at Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal at noon as part of the national government’s “ease of education” initiative, in the presence of college students and other dignitaries.

Notably, the aforementioned publications will explain scientific biological terms in Hindi and use Devanagari alphabet for their writing.

This move followed a committee of lawmakers’ recommendation that Hindi be taken into consideration as a teaching language for higher education in states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Gujarat that speak the language.

The committee suggested literature in each state’s mother tongue for those who don’t speak Hindi.

According to media reports, a group of 16 doctors collaborated with 97 subject experts to create three textbooks for the MBBS first year: Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry.

To avoid confusion regarding technicalities, the technical phrases have also been kept in English but presented in Devnagari script.

The Gandhi Medical College (GMC), Bhopal will be the first medical college in the state to introduce the Hindi textbooks for MBBS students for the current academic year.

This choice was made at a time when Southern states are already protesting the reported recommendation of a parliamentary panel chaired by Amit Shah to use local languages and Hindi (in states where Hindi is spoken) as the primary language of instruction for higher education, medical school, and technical training programmes.

However many opposition leaders have expressed their objections to promoting Hindi. In return, social media netizens responded that such leaders never objected to a foreign language (English), but now they are opposing an Indian language (Hindi).
