Jammu & Kashmir -The minister of home affairs Amit Shah is on a three-day visit to Jammu Kashmir for the first time in two years. On Saturday, the minister landed in Srinagar airport to take note of the regional affairs, threats and violence in Jammu and Kashmir.

Terrorism, increase in violence, and cross-border infiltration is a few of the key issues that the leader will be addressing during his visit to J&K. For the same, Shah headed a high-level meeting today and discussed ways to tackle the problems.

The security agencies, ministers, and other experts in the matter are still discussing why after such huge army turnout, security preferences, the area has experienced threats of radicalization and homegrown terrorism along with violent activities. The security agencies presented their views on the matter and tried to explain all could be possible reasons for this.

An official from the home ministry stated that even though the government believes that the idea behind the safety of people revolves around their safety, recent activities prove that minorities are not safe in the region. He further stressed, “This is a big concern for the government… so a strategy to further reassure people was discussed”.

As per a data released by the center, 32 civilians have been killed so far in 2021 while last year there were as many as 41 killings. Even the cases of terrorism in J&K seizes to decrease as there have been 63 such cases in the first nine months of this year.

Following his high level meeting, Amit Shah also interacted with the Youth clubs of Jammu and Kashmir where he said that he believes that the best implementation of the flagship schemes of prime minister Narendra Modi was done in J&K.

The minister chose to interact with the youth ahead of other things because the data shows that a lot of young people are being drawn to violence in recent years. Government disclosed data claiming that 97 youngsters had left their homes to join a terror outlet, of which 56 have been neutralised this year.

This visit comes as the security officials, armed forces are already engaged in a 13-day anti terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir which has seen the death of a total nine soldiers. This is one of the fiercest battles seen in recent times. The Army believes that the duration of this violence proves that many of the violators from the other side were trained by Pakistan personnel rather than being self trained.
