Season one of The Family One received a lot of appreciation not only for the acting chops of Manoj Bajpayee but also for the storyline surrounding the life of an intelligence officer.

The makers were working on the second season of the show for over two years and only a couple of months ago it was revealed that Samantha Akkineni will be playing an extremely crucial character in the much-awaited show. After the release of the trailer, it was gathered that she will be playing Eelam Tamilian.

Soon people started protesting against the show and especially those from Tamil Nadu were concerned that the show may hurt their sentiments over sensitive topics. The issue seems to revolve around the character Samantha will be playing.

The South Indian superstar will be playing a suicide bomber, a character that closely resonates with the person involved in the assasination of Rajiv Gandhi. Of course, the names and the whole situation was supposedly changed but that did not make people doubt the show and its plot.

Given the already strict guidelines of the Indian government and the controversies regarding previous shows on Amazon like Taandav, the OTT platform issued an order against U-turn actors.

A source close to the issue and the production talked to an entertainment website revealingthat people are judging her character with only a small portion of what is the plot. “In thecase with Samantha’s character in The Family Man 2, people have taken an objection toher character, but they have not really seen the full range of what she portrays”

Samantha in various interviews was visibly excited about the show and was caught sayingthat she was so excited to be playing this character and everyone back home were alsowaiting for the season to come on the platform so they could watch it without any delay.
