Akhilesh Yadav Promises Everything That Was BJP Challenge In Election Manifesto

The new carrot for the farmer community is ‘a debt free farmer community by 2025.’ In the new manifesto, titled ‘Samajwadi Vachan Patra’ that was released by party chief Akhilesh Yadav, there have been promises made like an urban employment guarantee Act on the lines of MGNREGS, besides free education for girls from primary to- post-graduation.

All this is what farmers generally land up paying for. All their savings now go into educating the girl child, as marriage and dowry is no more a burden on their minds. But even that burns quite a hole in their pocket.

 The tagline spoke for itself- ‘Satya Vachan, Atoot Vaada’ (word of honour, unbroken promise).

Speaking at a press conference, he said, “I remember that when in 2012 the SP had released its manifesto and then when we formed the government, we held a meeting of all departments related to various promises and fulfilled all those promises. With ‘satya vachan, atoot vaada’, we are going to people with this document as manifesto for 2022.”

It was an 88-page manifesto that also offered a guaranteed MSP (Minimum Support Price), a controversy that had rocked the saffron party’s leadership throughout the time farmers agitation went on. Yadav has taken a dig over this and confirmed that besides ensuring payment for sugarcane farmers in 15 days, he intends to create a corpus if required. The deal gets even better with Yadav confirming that farmers would definitely get ‘free power for irrigation, interest-free loan, insurance, and pension arrangements.’

Talking about girl education, Yadav also said SP would introduce a ‘Kanya Vidhya Dhan’ scheme under which girls clearing their class 12th board exam will get a one-time amount of ₹36,000. It also pledged to give a laptop to all students clearing their class 12 boards.

There is a lot in store for farmers, if they vote for SP. Question is how much is going to actually be delivered at ground level.
