Akhilesh Yadav Mocks Rahul Gandhi’s ‘X-ray’ Analogy Over Caste Census

The I.N.D.I.A bloc is again in controversy. Most of its members & parties often fight over different disagreements. In the latest turn of events in the political alliance I.N.D.I.A bloc, Akhilesh Yadav has openly criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s statement on the caste census.

Rahul Gandhi likened the caste census to an “X-ray” that would reveal details about various communities in India.

Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, however, questioned the analogy, suggesting that more advanced technologies like MRI and CT scans should be considered instead of an “X-ray”. Akhilesh’s comment was a witty way to highlight the outdated approach of the Congress party.

Akhilesh Yadav’s criticism goes deeper than just the technology metaphor. He raised questions about why the Congress, during its tenure in power, never conducted a caste census.

He suggested that Congress’s current advocacy for a caste-based survey is a tactic to attract voters from the lower strata of society, particularly as the 2024 Lok Sabha elections are approaching.

This accusation implies that the Congress party is now resorting to caste census as a means to regain its lost support base.

Furthermore, Yadav accused the Congress of betraying the backward classes, Dalits, and Adivasis after India gained independence.

He argued that these communities are well aware of this betrayal, hinting that they might not support Congress in the upcoming elections.

On a practical note, Akhilesh Yadav expressed his confidence in the feasibility of conducting a caste census swiftly. He believes that with the existing Aadhaar card system, a comprehensive caste count could be completed in just three months.

This assertion suggests that the technology and data infrastructure needed for such a massive undertaking are already in place.

The backdrop of this political exchange is the evident rift between the Samajwadi Party and the Congress. This strain has been particularly evident in the context of the upcoming elections in Madhya Pradesh, where the two parties failed to reach a consensus on seat-sharing.

On the other hand, BRS President and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has also criticized Congress for allegedly delaying Telangana’s establishment and favoring only 3 hours of electricity supply to farmers.

Rao cited drinking water issues in areas with large rivers like the Ganga and claimed that Telangana is the only state in India that offers tapped drinking water to every tribal habitation.
