Ajit Doval’s Strong Stance: Unveiling the Erosion of Trust between India and China

The situation along the LAC, India’s de facto border, in the Western Sector of the India-China border has weakened strategic trust and the public and political foundation of the two nations’ relationship since 2020, according to sources. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval spoke with top Chinese diplomat Wang Yi about bilateral relations on the sidelines of the Friends of BRICS meeting in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Monday.

Wang Yi is the Director of the Office of the CPC Foreign Affairs Commission and a member of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Political Bureau. He and Mr. Doval are the designated representatives of their nation in the boundary negotiations. India and China held their most recent border talks at the special representative level in 2019.

According to sources, NSA Doval emphasized the significance of continuing efforts to fully resolve the situation and restore calm and peace in the border regions in order to remove obstacles to normal bilateral relations.

According to Wang Yi, the two sides should prioritize cooperation and consensus, remove barriers, and put bilateral relations back on the path of sound and stable development as soon as possible, according to China’s official news agency Xinhua. He reportedly emphasized that China will never seek hegemony and that it is prepared to collaborate with other developing nations, including India, to support multilateralism, democratize international relations, and advance the growth of an international order that is more just and equitable.

The two sides concurred that the bilateral relationship between China and India is vital for the world as well as for the two nations themselves.

A meeting between Mr. Wang and the Minister of External Affairs, S. Jaishankar, took place a few days earlier in Jakarta, Indonesia. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss unresolved issues that pertain to maintaining peace and tranquility in border regions.

India and China have been in a military standoff for more than three years. Mr. Jaishankar has said that it is the most difficult challenge he has faced in his long diplomatic career.

India has insisted that peace in the border area is a must for the two countries to be able to get along again.
