Ajit Doval Meets UK counterpart Tim Barrow, To Address Khalistan Issue

National Security Adviser Ajit Doval will meet with his UK counterpart Tim Barrow to discuss bilateral issues and address concerns about pro-Khalistan radicals.

India has expressed worries about the British government downplaying the issue and the safety of Indian diplomats in the UK.

The meeting comes after the death of Avtar Singh Khanda, a UK-based leader of the Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF), and alleged mentor of separatist Amritpal Singh.

NSA Ajit Doval has been in contact with Barrow regarding the increase in pro-Khalistan extremism in the UK, and India is concerned about the British establishment seemingly downplaying the issue.

The Delhi Police has registered a First Information Report (FIR) for the flag desecration incident at the Indian high commission in London, and the case has been transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

The Delhi Police Special Cell has identified Khanda, Gursharan Singh, and Jasvir Singh as the primary individuals responsible for the incident.

Doval is expected to address concerns about the safety of Indian diplomats, particularly High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami and a Consul General, who have been targeted by pro-Khalistan extremists.

He will likely request assurances from Barrow that Indian diplomatic premises will not be violated by extremists.

UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said that direct attacks on the Indian High Commission in London are completely unacceptable and the government will take immediate actions against the attackers.

US Congressmen Ro Khanna and Michael Waltz have also condemned the recent arson attack on the Indian Consulate in San Francisco by pro-Khalistanis and said, “Free Speech is not a license to provoke violence!”

Pro-Khalistanis attacked the Indian Consulate in San Francisco, leading to a rally on July 8. The co-chairs of the India Caucus, Ro Khanna and Michael Waltz, condemned the attack and emphasized that free speech does not justify violence.

They called on the US State Department to investigate and take action. Congressman Khanna expressed his respect for Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu and criticized the dangerous rhetoric that puts diplomats at risk.

The attack was also accompanied by posters targeting Indian diplomats, accusing them of involvement in the killing of a designated terrorist. The US government has promised to take strict actions and assured the safety of Indian diplomats.
