After sweeping victory in Bihar, BJP lays out plan to conquer Bengal and oust Mamta Banerjee

BJP lays out plan to conquer Bengal: After wining Bihar elections with a great margin and letting JD(U) chief Nimish Kumar be the face of the state as a consolation prize, Bharatiya Janta Party turns its focus towards Bengal to win the upcoming state assembly elections. BJP knows that it would need more than motivational speeches and bragging development growth plan to win the state and beat its long standing leader, Mamta Banerjee.

BJP has a prepared a team of central leaders to push away Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress government, which has been ruling the state for past ten years. Though BJP knows how hard this task is, hence the Union home Minister Amit Shah and BJP chief JP Nadda would be holding the charge of campaign strategy and execution rather than state party leaders, who are busy in trivial factional feuds.

The 11-member core team includes party general secretaries Kailash Vijayvargiya and Dushyant Gautam, five party secretaries – Harish Dwivedi, Sunil Deodhar, Arvind Menon, Vinod Tawade, Vinod Sonkar, BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya and state leaders Kishore Burman and Amit Chakravarty.

Besides, on Wednesday, West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh announced that Amit Shah and JP Nadda would visit the state every month to lead the campaign and gauge its progress till the end of the elections, which would be help in April-March 2021. West Bengal is a very important territory for BJP given its vast number of state assembly seats, which amount to 294. If BJP turns successful in solidifying its position in the assembly in upcoming elections, it would gain an upper hand over rest of the rival parties in next national elections.

Ghosj said, “Amit Shah and J P Nadda will visit the state separately every month till the assembly elections are over. The dates are yet to be finalised. Their regular visits will energise the party workers.”

He added, “The people of West Bengal have given chances to the Congress, the CPI(M) and the TMC. All the three parties have failed to live up to the expectations of the masses, which will now be fulfilled by the BJP.”

Over the years, BJP has gained confidence to form a footing in West Bengal, especially after winning 18 out of 42 seats in the 2019 general elections. But the biggest challenge saffron party would be to find a chief ministerial candidate of equal stature as Banerjee who has earned an extraordinary place herself in the state, pushing aside even the strongest leftist and communist leaders.
