After Ankita Lokhande’s revelations, Sushant Singh Rajput’s 2014 statement resurfaces

The death of the actor Sushant Singh Rajput has brought his personal life in public view. Be it his relationship with Rhea Chakraborty or his six years of courtship with Ankita Lokhande. Even though Chakraborty has refrained from speaking about it after her bail, Lokhande has been fairly active while talking about her former partner. 

She made many revelations of her and Rajput’s relationship. She talked about her career and how the relationship affected her. One of the main things she said was that she lost opportunities of working with Shahrukh Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali as she was looking for marriage with Rajput. 

Happy New Year, a film that stars Shahrukh Khan and was directed by Farah Khan was offered to Ankita but she was dating Rajput at that time and dropped out of the project she wished to support Rajput’s career.

“I gave up on Happy New Year. I remember Farah ma’am offered me the film and I met Shah Rukh sir also,” she said. She added that Khan also said that he will try and make this the best debut she could have but then things did not work out and she dropped out of the high-profile project.

She spoke to the Bollywood Bubble when she revealed about the opportunities she lost adding that she did not regret any of it. She rejected the offer of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani and Goliyo ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela because while she was in a relationship with the late actor. 

After her tell-all interview, an old statement of the late actor has been trending. The actor was asked about Lokhande working with Shahrukh Khan to which Rajput replied, “The talks were on but many things couldn’t be worked out. Between Kai Po Che and today, I have been in talks for about 25 films, but things don’t always work out. It happens.”

The two dated till 2016 and recalling her career moves, Lokhande said that even though she did not regret it but after they separated she realized that there is more to her. She wanted to explore her career as well and debut with Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, which had Kangana Ranaut as the lead. 

Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his apartment last year in June. Initially the Mumbai Police termed it as a suicide case while after a lot of interference by media and the statements of people close to him, the case was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
