Popular Swedish band ABBA reunites after 40 years and will release a new album on 5 November called Voyage. Following the release, they will be holding series of concerts in a digital avatar and play their greatest hits like “Waterloo,” “Mamma Mia,” and “Dancing Queen.”
ABBA band member’s names are Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, and Benny Andersson. They became immensely popular during the 70s and early 80s.
ABBA had disbanded when two members, Lyngstad and Andersson, divorced, and the band chose never to rejoin again. However, in 2021, almost after 40 years, the band has decided to reunite again.
Abba said that the “Voyage” took 40 years to take shape.” The group said the concert in London would comprise both old and new songs. A show that has brought us together once again.”
On 27 May 2022, concert series will be organized at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London. The tickets will be accessible beginning 7 September.
The avatars were designed by Industrial Light and Magic, the unique visual effect company that Star Wars maker George Lucas established. The creators said it was tough to create their digital avatar as the band members are in their seventies. Makers utilized motion capture technology to scan every characteristic and motion of the artists as they performed.
Andersson told the BBC that the reunion happened while working on a stage show, and we later ended up in the recording studio. At first, it was just two songs, yet later we ended up recording ten songs.
