The Indian political scene is buzzing as the Congress party announced its intention to contest all seven Lok Sabha (Lower House of Parliament) seats in Delhi during the upcoming 2024 elections.
This announcement has caused some tension within the “INDIA” alliance, which includes parties like the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The alliance aims to unite opposition parties for the 2024 general elections.
Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, made the decision after a meeting. However, the AAP, a part of the alliance, expressed concerns about this move.
AAP leader Alka Lamba indicated a possible split in the alliance by mentioning that Congress will compete in all seven seats without prior discussions.
The AAP emphasized the need for discussions before such decisions are finalized. Saurabh Bhardwaj, an AAP Minister, said that the alliance’s future should be considered, given Congress’s decision.
Priyanka Kakkar, an AAP spokesperson, mentioned that if Congress doesn’t want an alliance in Delhi, it might not make sense to continue with the larger “INDIA” alliance.
Opposition parties are working together to form a strong front against the ruling party in the 2024 elections. The “INDIA” bloc, including various parties, will hold a meeting to discuss how seats will be shared among them for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Speculation has arisen that Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar, might play a significant role within the “INDIA” grouping. He arrived in the capital to meet with other opposition leaders and might discuss potential collaborations with them.
The Congress party is also planning a “Bharat Jodo Yatra” that will span from west to east India, starting in Gujarat and ending in Meghalaya in the northeast.

The Congress party’s decision to contest all seven Delhi Lok Sabha seats has created tension within the opposition alliance “I.N.D.I.A.”
The AAP party is expressing concerns about such decisions being made without prior talks.
Opposition parties are continuously striving to collaborate effectively for the upcoming 2024 elections. Their main focus or primary agenda is to eliminate BJP at any cost. But their alliance is consistently being victim of controversies due to ideological differences.
