5 Arrested After The 3rd Blast Reported Near Golden Temple

After following the CCTV footsteps of the main accused in the 3rd explosion, the SGPC teams identified, traced & handed him over to Punjab Police.

The first explosion occurred Saturday night on Heritage Street, which led to the Golden Temple. Unfortunately, some of the tourists had injuries. The same area suffered the second explosion on Monday. Fortunately, no one was hurt. The third and final explosion occurred at 12:30 a.m. on 10 May 2023.

The Punjab Police claimed to have solved the case of the low-intensity explosions near the Golden Temple in Amritsar after the third explosion occurred at 12.30 a.m. on Thursday.

Director-General of Police (DGP) of Punjab Gaurav Yadav announced via social media that the case has been resolved with the arrest of five individuals implicated in the incident. According to police, the explosions were intended to disrupt the peace.

The president of the SGPC (Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee), Harinder Singh Dhami, blamed the government’s negligence and stated that the gurdwara’s security team had apprehended three people, including a couple who were residing at Guru Ramdas Serai, the location of the recent explosion.

The captured individuals were subsequently turned over to the police. According to him, the third explosion occurred due to the government’s carelessness in managing this situation.

The newlywed couple hurled the explosives at the Galliara from the bathroom of the sarai where they were staying. According to reports, they were residing in room 224 of the sarai.

The police seized some handwritten pages from the suspect’s possession. According to sources, fireworks were used to create the explosion. None of the detained individuals has any known ties to terrorism.

SGPC President, Harinder Singh Dhami stated that a scanner will be installed for devotees accessing the Golden Temple and urged devotees to bring only essential items when visiting the shrine complex.
