5.2 Magnitude Earthquake Today Hits UP, Uttarakhand And J&K

Several districts of UP, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir experienced an Earthquake today at 01:12 am. Its epicenter was 139 km away from Lucknow at a depth of 82 km.

The National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported that an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 on the Richter scale occurred in the early hours of Saturday in the region to the north-northeast of Lucknow.

On Saturday around 1.12 am, there was an earthquake. The earthquake occurred 82 kilometers below the surface of the earth.

NCS Informed About Earthquake Today

The National Center for Seismology tweeted,

“Earthquake of magnitude: 5.2 occurred on 20-08-2022, 01:12:47 IST, Lat: 28.07 and Long: 81.25, Depth: 82 Km, Location: 139 km NNE of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.”

NCS informed about another earthquake of magnitude 3.1 on the Richter Scale that hit Southern South-West of Jammu and Kashmir’s Hanley village.

No Death Or Property Loss Reported Yet

However, no recorded death or property damage has occurred to date. Due to the earthquake, many were awakened, and they instantly left their homes. 

People who were also celebrating Krishna Janmashtami at the same time fled the pandals in fear. 

People claim that the strike was so powerful that it caused numerous household items, such as refrigerators, fans, and coolers, to shake for a very long period.

Earthquake Today Shocked Bahraich

When there were three consecutive earthquake shakes around 1:12 pm in Bahraich, several individuals got out of bed and sat down. 

There have been no reports of damage throughout this time. The report indicates that there was some shaking of the homes’ appliances. People were spotted asking for the wellbeing of their loved ones in a hurry.

Earthquake Tremors In Sitapur

Quakes from the earthquake were also experienced in Sitapur. At roughly 1:16 p.m., a sudden, severe earthquake tremor was felt. 

People claimed that the shock was so intense that it caused refrigerators and coolers kept in the homes to shake for a while. 

People quickly began receiving calls from relatives. People claimed that the earthquake’s shocks barely lasted a short while. People were kept awake for a long time as a result.

Earthquake Today Also In Uttarakhand, J&K

The Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand experienced a little earthquake earlier on Friday; the earthquake’s Richter scale value was recorded as being 3.6. 

According to the NCS, a second earthquake with a magnitude of 3.1 occurred south-southwest of the village of Henle in Jammu and Kashmir.
